The original song was sung by a gypsy musician, a certain Károly Rostás "Huttyán" under the title Esik az eső sometime around the '70s, precisely in 1977, for a world-traveling folk song collector. Then Deep Forest searched this foreign archive in 1993, and decades after the song was sung, they made a cover of the song. It became an immediate success. It happened that the song was played on the radio, and Huttyán had already died a long time ago when his son heard his father's voice on the radio, and then he said "my dear mother, my father is singing on the radio." You can't even imagine what Huttyán, the widow of the old gypsy, must have felt there. In 1995, the Rostás family and the media, specifically Duna TV, contacted the publisher, Sony, went all the way to Paris, and filed a claim for the royalties of the song. They haven't been living badly since then, and the aforementioned channel made a documentary about the case. ...and why was it such a big hit? Music we all love! Strangely, his companion - Michel Sanchez - is out of our scope. He had some music (kind of ethnic but more crazy or psychodelic) on Apple Music and then his tracks disappeared from there.

I heard this song in 1995 few times and it was the last time I heard this song. I always looked for this song, even though I did not know the lyrics and I was not good in humming it. So I came to think that it was just a promo piece of the FM radio station where I heard in 1995. I was desperately trying to find it, and I knew that someday I will come across this song somehow. Yesterday, my friend was playing random songs from his vast music library, and this song came up, I was like stunned. I said it was 28 years I was looking for this song, and I somehow knew that someday I will hear it again, and it happened, absolutely by chance, yesterday it happened and I was really stunned that my belief that I will hear the song again someday came true.
